SALT+WAX purchase details

'Salt & Wax' has been in production for around 4 years now... it's been a process of shoot, edit, shoot, edit, design, edit, design, edit... maybe more shooting than designing. Plenty of thinking either way. Anyways we're done - we have forewords for the great and the good, support and love from those that have joined us on the way - so now all we need to do is make it. A book that is... A limited edition signed book, only 500, all hard-backed quarter bound foil blocked things of beauty. (B5: 245mm x 165mm / 48 page / Full Colour)

Designed at Yacht Associates (www.yachtassociates.com). Pre-production all sorted with the finest printers Generation Press (www.generationpress.co.uk) and publishing via our imprint 'Generation Yacht'... we just need the funding. So an idea popped up using the same principal our surfing bandito hero Mr Alan Weisbecker used to get the first edition of 'Can't You Get Along With Anyone' to print... Simply put - you buy it before we've made it... We only need 300 pledges of £22.00 - This includes post and packing to your door. If you pledge we'll print your name in a 'Pledgers Hall of Fame' within the book, so YOU become a part of the book - we're not in this for profit, we'd need to sell a few thousand to break even on the energy and commerce we've logged already... It's just about seeing a piece of art live in the real world. Take a look at the page spreads below - if it's your thing, then join us... who knows, if we get more than 300 we might get to have a launch party for everyone with the winnings!

Mark has captured the sentiment of the water world’s view of life. The pages bring us back to the happier reality.

Tom Wegener - Shaper

I so appreciate Mark Leary's photographic essay of surfers in between their wave riding moments. For me, he really nailed the fact that even though we come from many different places and walks of life we share a wonderful commonality and sense of awe in our daily existence because of the gift of surfing!

Marc Andreini - Shaper

Mark has examined the minutiae of not just the surfing experience, but the surfing experience here and now. To my mind, it captures an importance stage in the development of our culture... Mark leads us to question and better understand what it really means to be obsessed by this pursuit.

Daniel Crockett - Publisher ‘Kook’

Mark Leary's work floated in from a surprise angle and landed like a soft, cool flannel to the furrowed brow. It felt familiar, comfortable and endearing. In the language of surf, it appeared somewhat 'kooky' but was actually 'totally core' and truly insightful.

Alex Dick-Reid - Editor/ Surfers Path

I have been closely following your progress on the blog with regards to 'Salt' ever since the article on it ran in The Surfer's Path. I am so happy for you that it has reached the final stages. As I expected, it looks incredible. I greatly look forward to seeing it in the flesh. Your style perfectly captures how British surfing should be portrayed. Raw and Beautifully understated.

Thank you

I do not have a Facebook account anymore so hope it is possible to pledge from here ?
